Shipping policy
Effective Date: September 8, 2026
1. Introduction
At The Recovery State, we specialize in delivering premium, high-performance wellness equipment. Due to the size and weight of our products (saunas and cold plunges), we utilize specialized LTL freight carriers to ensure your order arrives safely and securely.
2. Shipping Destinations
We currently ship to the Contiguous United States. Shipping to Alaska, Hawaii, or international destinations may be available upon request for an additional fee. Please contact support@therecoverystate.com for a custom freight quote.
3. Shipping Costs & Exclusions
- Free Curbside Delivery: We provide Free Standard Curbside Freight Delivery on all orders within the contiguous United States.
- What’s Included: Delivery to the curb, end of driveway, or accessible street location via standard freight transit.
- Specialized Services Excluded: Standard delivery does not include inside placement, white-glove assembly, package debris removal, or specialized equipment delivery (such as flatbed, boom, or tilt/tow delivery, which carries an additional fee starting at $1,450). If your delivery site requires specialized equipment, please notify us before placing your order.
4. Order Processing, Lead Times & Production Holds
- Processing Time: Standard in-stock orders are processed within 3–5 business days.
- Custom & Built-to-Order Lead Times: Many of our outdoor saunas are handcrafted and custom-built to order. Estimated lead times are listed on individual product pages.
- Delivery Holds & Storage Fees: If you need to postpone your ship date, written notice must be received at support@therecoverystate.com at least 8 business days prior to your scheduled production ship date. Holds requested within 7 days of the scheduled ship date, or holds requested while freight is held at a local terminal, are subject to carrier/manufacturer storage charges of $35.00 per day.
5. Freight Delivery Process (What to Expect)
Because our units ship via heavy LTL Freight, delivery functions differently from parcel mail:
- Appointment Scheduling: Once your order arrives at your local freight terminal, the carrier will contact you via phone to schedule a specific delivery window. An adult (18+) must be present to inspect and sign the Bill of Lading (BOL).
- Curbside Placement: Delivery is strictly "Curbside." The carrier will position the shipment at the curb or end of the driveway accessible by road. Drivers are not insured or permitted to maneuver crates into backyards, garages, or residences.
- Crate Sizes & Liftgate Limitations: Standard liftgate lowering is included on eligible shipments with crate lengths of 84 inches or under. For oversized handcrafted saunas (crates exceeding 84 inches), freight safety regulations prohibit mechanical liftgate lowering; these shipments require curbside offloading, and the recipient is responsible for having 2–3 able-bodied individuals or proper equipment on-site to assist with curbside unloading.
- Site Accessibility: Delivery requires access for a full-sized 53-foot commercial semi-truck. If your road or driveway has low-hanging trees, weight limits, narrow clearance, or unpaved steep inclines that prevent entry, delivery will be completed at the nearest safe, legal drop-off point.
6. Inspection and Damage (CRITICAL)
You are legally responsible for thoroughly inspecting the exterior of the crate before signing any paperwork with the freight driver.
- Visible Packaging Damage: If the crate, pallet, or wrap shows punctures, tears, or crushed panels, you must write "DAMAGED - SUBJECT TO INSPECTION" directly on the driver’s Bill of Lading (BOL) prior to signing. Take clear photos immediately from multiple angles.
- Concealed Damage: If packaging appeared intact but internal damage is discovered upon unboxing, notify us at support@therecoverystate.com within 48 hours of delivery with photos and order details. Claims filed outside 48 hours cannot be honored due to freight carrier filing restrictions.
- Severe Damage / Refusal: If an item is catastrophic or structurally crushed, note the damage on the BOL and refuse delivery. Alert our team immediately so we can file an expedited replacement claim.
7. Order Tracking
Once your shipment leaves the manufacturing facility, you will receive an email containing the Carrier Name, PRO / Tracking Number, and direct tracking link.
8. Delivery Fees & Access Exceptions
- Missed Appointments & Redelivery: If an agreed delivery window is missed or if the carrier cannot safely access the curb, standard carrier redelivery charges will apply at the customer's expense.
- Address Corrections & Reconsignment: Re-routing freight in transit due to an incorrect address provided at checkout will incur a carrier reconsignment fee ($150+), billed directly to the customer.
